one-hundred-forty-second edition, March 29, 2008

Weeks 1-3 of the CCFFL's Spring 2008 season have been played, and the league has seen lots of new faces and new teams, and the return of some old players too.  The Spring 2008 season has reached a record level of 11 teams and over 225 players.  Week's 1-3 highlights included the Blue Chips opening day win over the Fall 2007  champions, The Feds.  The Blue Chips went on to win their week 2 and 3 games and went into there bye week the only team undefeated.  New teams, the Wolves and the Shamrocks after 3 weeks of play were unable to see a win, but the new teams Damage and the Spartans both pulled off wins with Damage winning there opener against the Wolves, and the Spartans beating the Wolves in week 2.  In addition to the 4 brand new teams, 2 returning teams changed there names.  You might remember the Guerillaz who now go by the name Bad Intentions, and The Thundercats have turned to Outlaws.  Bad Intentions started out there season with a win, a loss, and a bye week, while the Outlaws opened with a win and 2 losses.  The Feds, Plague, Violators, and Doz Boyz all came out with 2 wins and a loss after 3 weeks of play. So that's a recap of weeks 1 thru 3, now on to your week 4 highlights!!!

Week 4 Highlights

Doz Boyz took on the Shamrocks to open up game 1 of week 4.  It was all Doz Boyz throughout and the game ended with Doz Boyz racking up 65 points while the Shamrocks were unable to score.  Doz Boyz started out the game scoring a 2 point safety when Fernando Castro recovered a fumble in the Shamrocks' end-zone.  The safety was followed by a kick return for a touchdown, and after that, Doz Boyz Quarterback, Eric Brown, went on to lead his team down field 8 times for scores.  Brown completed 7 passes in the game, 3 of which were for TDs.  B.J. Williams, Carl McCalister, and Dustin Lowe all caught touchdown passes from Brown.  The other 5 Doz Boyz scores came on the ground with Brown rushing in a TD, Mikel Williams rushing in 2 TDs, and Antoine Cooley and Dustin Lowe each rushing in 1.  Williams rushed 7 times for 93 yards in the game.  Defensively Doz Boyz held the Shamrocks to a total of 27 yards and forced 4 turnovers.  Dustin Lowe recovered a fumble, Derek Burton also recovered a fumble, and both B.J. Williams and Cornelious Johnson caught INTS.  It wasn't pretty for the Shamrocks as Doz Boyz posted a 65-0 shutout victory.

The Feds met Damage for game 2, and it was a fast paced game that ended with a Feds victory.  The Feds scored on there opening drive when Quarterback, Shawn Hudson, hit receiver Stephen Novello on a 36 yard touchdown pass.  Damage was unable to answer and when the Feds got the ball again they scored again, this time Hudson found tight end Mike Miller open for an 18 yard touchdown pass.  Feds receiver and linebacker Paul Harting became Damage's worst enemy on the next 3 drives as Harting scored offensively on a 23 yard pass from Hudson, and followed that up with a defensive touchdown when he returned an INT 52 yards for a score.  Harting then scored again on the Feds next drive on a 29 yard touchdown.  Stephen Novello scored another Feds touchdown from 29 yards out, and league leading receiver Emil Lovec came up with 2 touchdown receptions as well.  In addition to the air assault, runningback Jason Plaut racked up 134 yards on 5 rushes including a 62 yard touchdown run.  Mike McDowell and Rory Sullivan led the Feds defense with McDowell grabbing 6 tackles, and Sullivan getting 3 tackles, 1 sack and a deflection.  Damage quarterback Alex Toler wasn't able to get anything going in the air, but did manage to rush for 118 yards in the game.  Andy Samples put Damage on the board with a 2 yard run into the end-zone after a successful drive down field.  The only damage done in game 2 was the 51-6 beating put up by the Feds.

The Plague and The Spartans took the field for game 3 of week 4 and it was a much closer match up then the 2 games before.  The Plague scored first on a pass from quarterback Brandon Leach to receiver Greg Lexa.  The TD was followed by a successful conversion attempt which gave the Plague a 7 point lead.  The Plague scored again and upped there lead to 14 when Leach found receiver Neil Stokely open for the team's second score.  But the Spartans quickly came back into the game with a fumble recovered in there end-zone by cornerback Chris Wellington for a touchdown.  The Spartans were unable to convert, but before the half time break were able to score again when quarterback Joel Cochran hit Bobby Fludd on a 36 yard touchdown pass.  The Spartans were unsuccessful again on the conversion attempt and went into half time with the Plague leading 14-12.  After the half, The Plague's William Hall would up the ante as he scored a 57 yard TD, and again the Plague converted giving them 21 points to the Spartans 12.  The Spartans made a comeback bid late in the game and quarterback Cochran found receiver Chris Wellington open for a 20 yard score.  The Spartans needed to complete a 3 yard conversion in order to tie the Plague and send the game into overtime, but Plague cornerback Neil Stokely ended all chances for that as he picked off the conversion attempt.  The Plague beat The Spartans 21-18 in week 4's most exciting game.

The Violators took on the Outlaws and the pace went back to mimic the week's opening games.  The Outlaws were unable to stop the Violators and the Violators kept the Outlaws out of the end zone all game long.  Violator quarterback, Jairo Obregon, completed 10 of 14 passes in the game for 296 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Obregon also rushed for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Marcos Martinez and Tylor Smith scored a touchdown each in the game with Martinez catching a 34 yard TD reception, and Smith a 44 yard TD reception.  Receiver Scott Witter caught 3 passes from Obregon in the game for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Witter also went on to lead the Violators' defense with 3 interceptions and 2 tackles.  Defensive End Mike Horrigan was in Outlaw quarterback, Joey Sawyer's face all day long, Horrigan posted 6 sacks and a tackle on the day.  The Outlaws had a moment of hope when cornerback Blake Stephens picked off a pass and ran back 40 yards, but Stephens was stopped short of the end-zone by Violator Alex Martinez and the Outlaws offense was unable to capitalize on the change of possession.  Alex Martinez scored the Violators 7th touchdown in the game, and after 3 successful 3-point conversion attempts the Violators went on to shut out the Outlaws with a 51-0 win.

Bad Intentions and the Wolves finished out the day in a close game that came down to the end.  Bad Intentions scored all 4 of there touchdowns on the ground with the first score being rushed in by runningback Robbie Bozen.  The Wolves answered the score when Quarterback, Nio Coronado hit Lee Robertson for a 13 yard score.   Bad Intentions scored again when Quarterback, Wes Kayler, drove the ball down the field and then rushed in a 12 yard touchdown, followed by a 2 point conversion.  Before the half, the Wolves would score again, this time on a 26 yard pass from Cornonado to receiver Michael Martin.  The Wolves also converted 2 points and the two teams went into the half 14 all.  After the half, Kayler quickly broke the tie and rushed in another touchdown to give his team the lead.  Bad Intentions defense was led by Brandon Lamborn who had 4 tackles and an interception returned for 24 yards.  Bad Intentions' Defensive End Josh Minter had 4 sacks in the game.  The Wolves defense was led by Dan Pettit who had 3 tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery.  Bad Intentions held on to the lead for much of the fourth quarter and then the Wolves came back into the game quickly with a 77 yard touchdown reception from Michael Martin.  Martin's score put the Wolves down 21-20 and the Wolves opted to go for a 2 point conversion to give them a win rather than a 1 point which would have tied the score.  The Wolves were unsuccessful in the 2 point attempt and were down by a point when Bad Intentions took possession with only a minute and a half to go.  Bad Intentions scored quickly with a 42 yard run from Bozen and upped the score to 28.  The quick score gave the Wolves another shot, but despite a good effort they were unable to capitalize and Bad Intentions went home with a 28-20 Victory.

Week 5 Highlights

The Blue Chips and Bad Intentions kicked off week 5 and the Blue Chips kept there winning streak going as they posted a 5th straight victory with a 46-12 win.  Blue Chips quarterback, Jeff Day scored 6 of the teams 7 touchdowns in the game throwing for 311 yards and 4 touchdowns, and rushing in 2 TDs.  Day hooked up with receiver Bryan Buckner for 107 yards and a TD, and with tight end Logan Lord for 83 yards and a 2 TDS.  Larry Cooper scored a defensive touchdown for the Blue Chips with a 58 yard touchdown return from an interception.  Bryan Buckner, Logan Lord, and Michael Tilton also caused turnovers in the game as they all picked off Bad Intentions fill in quarterback Wes Kaylor.  Kaylor was able to hook up for scores with receiver Kris Breeden twice in the game, but the absence of  Bad Intentions's starting QB Mark Lobsinger was noticed as Kaylor was picked off 4 times in the game.  After 5 weeks of play, the Blue Chips remain undefeated with a 4 and 0 record while Bad Intentions sits at 500 starting the season out 2 and 2.

The Feds and Doz Boyz took the field for game 2 in a close game that came down to the end.  The Feds scored quickly to open the game with Quarterback Shawn Hudson driving his team down the field and then hitting receiver Eddie Wilson for the score.  The Feds were unable to convert which almost became detrimental in the end as Doz Boyz answered the score when runningback Mikel Williams marched down field for a TD, and the team converted to take a 1 point lead.  Williams scored again for Doz Boyz just before the half time break and upped his team's  lead to a 13-6 score.  After the half, the Feds kept Doz Boyz out of the end zone and Hudson and Wilson struck again for a 96 yardd score, but again the team failed to convert and were still down by a point.  The Feds defense went to work hoping to stop Doz Boyz from scoring again and get the ball back.  Javier Vega and Nick Johnson led the Feds defense in the game with 15 tackles between them, but Vic Sam was the key to the Feds success as he stopped Doz Boyz from holding on to the ball and the lead as on 3rd down he backed up a rushing attempt, and then killed Doz Boyz drive on 4th down with a quick sack.  The Feds had a minute and forty one seconds left to try and score and make up for the 1 point deficit, and they did.  Hudson hit Paul Harting in the end zone with only 8 seconds left in the game for a score and the Feds walked away from the physical, chaotic game with a 20-13 win.

The Shamrocks and The Wolves took the field for game 3 in a much calmer game than the one before it.  Both teams were looking for a first win, and the Wolves came away with the victory while the Shamrocks after 4 games went home still winless.  The Shamrocks scored first as quarterback, Drew Cesar rushed in a 19 yard TD and followed it up with a 1 point conversion.  The Shamrocks weren't able to saver their lead for very long as Wolves quarterback Nio Coronado answered when he hit receiver Alex Quintero on a 58 yard touchdown pass and followed up the score with a 2 point conversion.  Turnovers made the biggest difference in the game and the Wolves caused 4.  Andy Robertson, Tommy O'Brian, and Andy Davis each picked off Shamrock's QB, Cesar, once and Jay Dwyer recovered a fumble and gave the ball back to his team.  Coronado capitalized on the fumble recovery and hit receiver Jake Jones for the Wolves second score.  Jones caught 4 passes for 78 yards in the game while Coronado threw for 150 total yards.  The Wolves walked away with a 16-7 win.

The Violators and Spartans met up for game 4 in another close game where a mere conversion made the difference.  Violator quarterback, Jairo Obregon, put the first points on the board with a 47 yard run into the endzone.  The  Violators scored a 3 point conversion after the score.  It was a defensive battle throughout the game with Violator Marcos Martinez posting 5 tackles and a deflection, and Chris Barredo grabbing 4 flags and a deflection.  Tilor Smith had a tackle, a deflection and an INT returned for 30 yards in the game, and Violator Mike Horrigan had a tackle, a deflection, and 2 sacks.  Spartan defensive end Edell Glover put the Spartans on the board after recovering a fumble, but the team was unable to convert and the Violators led 9-6.  Violator cornerback Ronny Marwin was the defensive standout in the game scoring a touchdown after picking off Spartan QB Lee Robertson and returning it for a touchdown.  Robertson brought his team closer to the Violators 15 points when he hit receiver Dwayne Sanders for a 65 yard score, but the 3 points that now separated the two teams was enough for the Violators to secure the win as the Spartans were unable to convert the 3 point conversion needed to bring them to a tie.  The Violators went to 4 and 1  with the win and the Spartans dropped to a disappointing 1 and 4.

The Plague closed out the week with a shut out win over the Outlaws.  It was all Plague as the team caused 3 turnovers in the game and held the Outlaws' offense to only 96 total yards.  Plague cornerback Greg Lexa picked off Outlaws QB Steven Passalacqua twice, while Robert Wilson picked off the quarterback once in the game.  Offensively Plague quarterback Brandon Leach completed 20 of 24 passes for 254 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Leach hit Pat Nelson for 2 TDs, and receivers Neil Stokely and William Hall once each for scores.  Stokely caught 5 passes for 79 yards in the game.  The Outlaws defense was led by Ken McIntyre who had 5 tackles and a deflection in the game, but despite McIntyre's efforts the Plague was able to score at will.  Brandon Leach rushed in a touchdown in addition to the  4 he got in the air, and Greg Lexa gave the team 2 more points to end the game by forcing a safety.  The Plague went to 4 and 1 with the win and bumped the Outlaws down to 1 and 4.

No Week 6, 7 or 8 Highlights

one-hundred-forty-fifth edition, May 3, 2008

Week 9's key match ups were the Blue Chips Vs. Doz Boyz and The Feds Vs. The Plague.

The Blue Chips and Doz Boyz kicked off the day with the morning game, and Doz Boyz hoped to end the Blue Chips 7 game winning streak.  The game started out with a Blue Chip touchdown from Jeff Day to Logan Lord followed by a successful 2 point conversion.  It looked like it was going to be a mess for Dem Boys when the Blue Chips upped their lead to 16 when Day rushed in a second score and completed another 2 point conversion.  With the Blue Chips up 16-0 just before the half, Doz Boyz quarterback Eric Brown made it a game again when he hit Carl McCalister for a 20 yard touchdown, Brown brought the score up to 8 when he hit Nick Medina on the conversion attempt.  The Blue Chips went into the half time break with a 16-8 lead.  After the break, the Blue Chips upped there lead some more when Day hit Roderick Stallings on a 58 yard bomb for another score.  Now already ahead by 14, the Blue Chips kept putting it farther out of reach as Day hit Bryan Tilton on a 46 yard pass for 6 more.  Doz Boyz QB, Brown answered Day's 2 TD bombs with one of his own.  Brown hit Carlos Mendoza for a 65 yard TD to bring Doz Boyz closer.  Down 28-14, Doz Boyz defense stopped the Blue Chips drive as Derek Burton picked off Jeff Day and returned possession to his team.  Eric Brown found Carl McCallister open again and completed a 58 yard TD pass to the receiver.  The score was now well in reach for Doz Boyz as they were now only down 28-22, but time was ticking away.  The Blue Chips ended all hopes for the boys when Michael Tilton picked off Brown and ran the ball back 58 yards for another Blue Chip Score. The Blue Chips remain undefeated after 8 weeks of play following the 34-22 victory over Doz Boyz.

Game 2 was the Feds Vs. The Plague.  Both teams had suffered only 1 loss going into the game and were tied with 6 and 1 records.  It started out close as the 2 teams went into the half time break tied 6-6.  The Plague took first possession in the game as Ryan Albert recovered a fumble on the opening kick off.  But despite losing possession on the kick return, The Feds managed to capitalize on the opening drive anyway as Kiko Vega led the defense and intercepted Plague quarterback, Brandon Leach.  Vega ran 91 yards for a Feds score.  The Feds held onto the 6 point lead until right before half time when Plague QB Leach, found receiver Neil Stokely open in the end zone. Feds' Javier Vega and Nick Johnson each posted 6 tackles in the game.  Vega also had an interception, and Johnson had a sack.  Leach set a league record with 39 attempts in the game, and although he finished the game with big numbers completing 22 passes for 254 yards, the Feds defense was able to keep him out of the endzone for the entire second half.  Feds quarterback Shawn Hudson  hit Javier Vega for a  91 yard touchdown pass to take the lead in the game.  Hudson also hit receiver Emil Lovec for a 28 yard TD to end the game with a 20-6 win.

There were no ejections in Week 9 which judging from the lengthy ejection list seems to be a highlight of it's own!!!

In game 3 of week 9, Bad Intentions took a 7-0 forfeit win over Damage.

In game 4 of week 9, The Violators posted a 71-0 shut out over The Wolves.  Turnovers were abundant as the Violators scored 5 touchdowns off of turnovers.  Jairo Obregon returned an INT 39 yards for a score.  Claudio Martinez returned an INT 70 yards for a score and recovered a fumble which he returned 50 yards for a score.  Marcos Martinez returned an INT 34 yards for a score, and Tilor Smith had 2 INTS in the game and returned 1 of them for a score.  On offense, the Violators went with a different quarterback this week and gave the start to Randy Loff.  Loff completed 10 passes for 138 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Tilor Smith caught 2 TD passes, Marcos Martinez caught a 50 yard TD pass, and Jairo Obregon caught an 18 yard TD pass.  The Wolves were  unable to get anything going against the Violators or stop them from scoring at will.

The Spartans and Shamrocks closed out the week with another shut out.  This time the Spartans shut out the Shamrocks 58-0.  The Spartans defense held the Shamrocks offense to only 44 total yards.  Shamrocks QB's Drew Cesar and Trevor Shipp were picked off 5 times between them.  Spartan Brandon Heater had 2 INTS of which he ran 1 back 68 yards for a TD.  Brian Fludd had a pick and ran 41 yards for a score.  Mo Otuafi picked off 2 balls and ran 1 back 35 yards for a score.  On offense, Spartans QB Lee Robertson completed 9 passes for 160 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Brian Fludd caught a 56 yard TD, while Bobby Dykes caught a 23 yard TD.  Joel Cochran was 2 for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Spartan runningback Brandon Frager rushed for 79 yards and a TD.

one-hundred-forty-sixth edition, May 10, 2008

Highlights from around the League

Saturday marked the final week of regular season, and although not much was at stake, many teams showed up to win.  The day opened with Bad Intentions and the Shamrocks, both teams playing for simply glory as neither had playoff hopes.  Bad Intentions came away with all the glory as they finished there season with a 40-6 victory.  Bad Intentions quarterback, Mark Lobsinger, had his best game of the season completing 11 of 17 passes for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Lobsinger also rushed for 45 yards and 2 TDS.  Wes Kaylor caught one TD, and Tony Sharron caught for 77 yards and a TD.  Runningback Robbie Bozen was 5 for 48 yards and a TD.  The Shamrocks 6 points came from T.J. McPherson on a 60 yard touchdown run.  Defensively Tony Sharron picked off Shamrock QB Drew Cesar once and rushed it back 29 yards for a TD, while Brandon Lamborn also had an interception and led Bad Intentions defense with 7 tackles as well.  Bad Intentions finished the season with a 4 and 6 record, and the Shamrocks inaugural season ended with a 1 and 9 record.

The Feds and The Spartans took the field next, and both teams were locked in to the playoffs and at there pre-game rank.  The Feds would hold the second place spot, and the Spartans would stay at 6th no matter what the outcome.  But the game was intense regardless, and The Spartans proved in the end that they could hang with the top ranked teams.  The Spartans scored the first TD in the game on a pass from QB, Mo Otuafi to Brandon Frager.  The Feds quickly tied the score at 6 all when Feds QB, Shawn Hudson, hit Eddie Wilson in the air for a 37 yard TD pass.  The two teams engaged in a defensive battle as Edell Glover led the Spartan defense with 5 sacks and 3 tackles, while Feds Stephen Novella and Kiko Vega led the Feds with 6 tackles each.  The Feds made a crucial mistake just before the half as the Spartans had the Feds at 4th down on there 5 yard line and a badly snapped ball led to a botched punt attempt which led to a sack at the 1 yard line to change possession.  The Spartans capitalized on the 1 yard to go field position and took a 12-6 lead into the half.  It took the bulk of the second half before anybody would score again as the two defenses battled back and forth.  But the Feds tied the score just at the end of regulation when Hudson hit receiver Emil Lovec for a game tying TD.  For a moment it looked as if the Feds had won the game as they went on to successfully convert the extra point, but the penalty flag came out and a holding call forced them to do it again, this time unsuccessfully.  The game ended 12-12 and sent the two teams into overtime where the Spartans would win the possession toss.  The Spartans ended it shortly as QB Bobby Dykes drove them down field to score the game winning touchdown.

Game 3 was another forfeit win this season as Doz Boyz took a 7 - 0 victory over Damage who once again did not show up.  Doz Boyz finished the season with a 7 and 3 record for 5th place.

The Violators had the week 11 bye week, but finished the season 7-3 for 4th place.

The only thing that the undefeated Blue Chips had in stake was holding on to their undefeated status as they had locked first place no matter the outcome of the game against the Plague.  But the Plague on the other hand although they had locked a playoff spot, a win would bump them into 3rd place and a loss would bump them down to 4th.  The game was like a repeat of the earlier Feds/Spartans game although these two teams did not engage in a defensive battle, this game was an offensive war that resulted in overtime.  The Plague showed up without starting QB Brandon Leach, so Neil Stokely took the reins.  Stokely orchestrated 3 TDs in regulation completing 16 of 22 passes for 295 yards.  Greg Lexa, William Hall, and Pat Nelson each caught a touchdown pass from Stokely.  Jermane Blackhat rushed in a touchdown to give the Plague 26 points during the first 2 halves.  The Blue Chips matched that 26 with QB Jeff Day completing 13 of 23 passes for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Logan Lord, Ryan Marsh, and Larry Cooper each caught 1 touchdown pass from Day.  Day also rushed in a touchdown during the game.  Plague corners Maurice Carter and William Hall each picked off QB, Day, in the game while Blue Chips cornerback Bryan Tilton picked off Stokely once.  The two normally power housed defenses seemed a little flat and the two teams went into overtime tied at 26.  The Plague won first possession and marched down the field to score the game winning touchdown.  It was an exciting 4th down TD as Stokely put the ball up in the air to tight end Pat Nelson, Nelson was surrounded by blue but was able to tip the ball up to land in the hands of receiver Greg Lexa.  The Plague secured third place with the 32-26 win over the Blue Chips, and ended the Blue Chips 9 game winning streak.

The Wolves and the Outlaws ended Spring 2008's regular season in a game that only meant status.  The winner would walk away with 2 wins on the season, and the loser would walk away having only won 1.  It was the Wolves who prevailed in the end winning by just 1 point.  The Wolves needed to borrow a couple players in order to field 9, and the Outlaws showed up with just 9.  So the two teams took the field in the torturous heat with all players forced to play both ways.  Wolves borrowed quarterback, Shawn Hudson Junior led the team down field and set up the first score as Rudy Reyna rushed in an 11 yard TD, but they did not convert the extra point.  The Outlaws tied the score at 6 when Blake Stephens picked off young Hudson and rushed 45 yards into the endzone for the score.  The Outlaws also did not convert and the teams went into the half with a 6 all tie.  After the half, The Outlaws took the lead as QB, Jeremy Davidson rushed 30 yards for a score, and followed it with a 1 point conversion.  The Wolves were  down by 7 when Hudson passed to receiver Stephen Novella for a 71 yard TD.  Now down by 1, the Wolves made the decision to go for a 2 point conversion to win rather than the safe 1 for a tie.  The 2 pointer was a success and the Wolves now led the game by a point.  Dominic Schmidt and Axl Birdsell led the Outlaws defense with Birdsell grabbing 8 tackles in the game and Schmidt posting a tackle, a deflection and 2 INTS.  But the Outlaw defense was unable to help the Outlaw offense score and the Wolves walked away with the 14-13 win.

Thank you to all 11 teams that played this season, it was a great regular season.  Bad Intentions, The Outlaws, Shamrocks, Wolves, and even Damage who didn't quite make it through, we hope to see you all back in the Fall.  The Fall 2008 season starts September 6, 2008.  Captains will need to be ready to register on August 15th.  Thanks again for a great Spring Season, and Good Luck to the Blue Chips, Feds, Plague, Violators, Doz Boyz, and the Spartans in the Playoffs.

Game Summary

Blue Chips scored first on a 30 yard touchdown run from Jeff Day, followed by a 2-point conversion pass from Day to Logan Lord.

Feds answered with a 27 yard touchdown pass from Shawn Hudson to Eddie Wilson, the Feds failed to convert and the Blue Chips held a 2 point lead

The Blue Chips upped their lead to 14-6 when Jeff Day threw a 10 yard touchdown pass to Bryan Buckner, the Blue Chips failed to convert

The Feds answered again when Hudson hit Kiko Vega on an 18 yard TD pass, again the Feds failed to convert and the Blue Chips now led 14-12 to go into the half.

The Blue Chips scored quickly at the beginning of the second half when Jeff Day hooked up with Bryan Buckner again, this time on a 72 yard TD pass.  The 2 point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, and the Blue Chips started the second half off with a 20-12 lead.

The Feds came back 2 drives later in a 4th and double sticks situation when Hudson faked a punt and threw a 62 yard touchdown pass to Javier Vega.  The Feds were unable to convert and were still down, now 20-18.

The Feds took their first lead in the game after stopping the Blue Chips on their ensuing drive and scoring again when they took over possession.  Hudson hit Javier Vega on a 7 yard TD pass and converted 2 points when he hit Eddie Wilson.  The Feds now led 26-20.

The Feds lead didn't last long as Jeff Day hit Tim Williams on a 22 yard touchdown pass to tie the score.  The game was now tied 26 all.

The Feds recaptured the lead when Hudson and Wilson hooked up on a 74 yard touchdown and a crucial 2 point conversion to Emil Lovec.  The Feds now led by 8 points but the Blue Chips got the ball back and had the chance to answer.

The Feds held the Blue Chips on their final drive and got the ball back with just over a minute to go.  The Feds ran 2 plays and knelt down for the final play of the game.  The Feds won their 3rd Championship Game in a row with this 34-26 Victory.

Nick Johnson won Championship game MVP for outstanding defensive play.  It was a tough decision for MVP as so many Feds made big plays in the game.  Honorable mention must be made to Kiko Vega, Eddie Wilson, Javier Vega, Mike McDowell, and Stephen Novello.  The entire Feds team stepped up and made this an exciting victory that came down to the end.
